An overgrown tree is not automatically a removal job. A qualified arborist can assess the health of the tree, the reason for concern and whether selective pruning can create enough clearance.
When pruning might fit
Deadwood removal, roof clearance and branch management may address a specific problem while retaining shade. Ask for the location and extent of cuts in writing and whether the result can be maintained over time. Heavy topping can harm the tree and create regrowth.
When removal is considered
Severe decline, structural damage, an unsuitable position or an approved development may lead to removal. A condition assessment and council process may be needed. Compare the pruning service with removal after the tree has been assessed, then confirm stump and waste work in the quote.
